Popcorn is made from a form of corn that is expelled from the kernels. When heated the individual kernals 'pop' into a white, soft result, ready for consumption. Popcorn is simplistic to make, due to the one step of heating. When the pressure builds within the kernal, it pops up.
Popcorn is commonly served within cinemas. This is usually salted and is an iconic element within all cinemas throughout the world. It can be utilised in a variety of ways. It can be served in conjunction with other elements such as coated in chocolate or caramel or covered in melted butter. However this usually lessons the healthy benefits due to the added sugar. Popcorn with no added items, is redeemed as a healthy food due the fibres within it and the lack of fat.

Eggs are used throughout the world in many dishes. The egg is laid by the female chicken. An egg consists of the egg yolk and the egg white, both being edible and used in different ways. The consumption of egg provides the human body with protein. The most popular methods of consuming the egg is: scrambled, poached, fried or boiled. Eggs have a fragile shell, consequently requiring care in storage.
Eggs are combined into many recipes. They have the ability to be utilised within savoury and sweet dishes. An egg may be combined in such dishes as: cakes, biscuits, rices and noodles. Through the use of the chicken egg taste and a combining mechanism is created.

Bread Around The World
Bread is one of the most basic essentials kept in many homes around the world. Bread is a simplistic product to produce, only consisting of flour and water. Many other ingredients can be combined within this dough to produce a more exciting, tasteful result. Bread is one of the oldest foods in time, dating back over 50,000 years ago.
There are many different versions of bread, altering in location and demand. They range from sourdough, white, brown, wholemeal and many more.
The production of bread is very simple, commonly made by hand. However with the advancement of technology, factories have developed large machinery to quicken the process. Also in homes, electronic bread making machines have also become a popular item.

Pasta is a widely known kitchen essential, all around the world. 'It is a staple food within Italy, originating from the first evidence in 1154 in Sicily' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasta). Pasta comes in a wide degree of shapes, sizes, colours and flavours varying on personal preference. Over time and with the introduction of technology, the way pasta is constructed and developed has varied. The traditional hand made methods can now be similarly developed in machinery and placed in supermarkets and factories.
Pasta is described as a complex carbohydrate, resulting in differing health affects within the body. Pasta does hold some nutrition and therefore can balance vitamin levels. Carbohydrates assist in the production of energy, yet too much of it can increase weight and consequently can negatively alter the health of many individuals.
Through the popularity of pasta, different countries have altered the creation process, to suit their particular foods. An example of this is within Hong Kong, where pasta has been adapted into their cuisine.

Chocoholic
Chocolate is a food item that is loved and created all around the world. The United States produces and consumes the most chocolate items, however through historical findings, chocolate originated from the Aztecs. This item has been around for hundreds of years and is incorporated into many dishes, whether restaurant quality or home cooking. It is a sweet food, that is commonly considered a key ingredient in deserts. Throughout the world there are many brands of chocolate, differing in consistency and taste. There are three main forms chocolate comes in: milk, white and dark.
Throughout the easter period, chocolate is a way in which the holiday is celebrated. The giving and receiving of 'easter eggs' is a popular task throughout this time. These come in a wide degree of shapes wrapped in colourful foils and imagery. This time is one of the highest demands for chocolate products.
