Pasta is a widely known kitchen essential, all around the world. 'It is a staple food within Italy, originating from the first evidence in 1154 in Sicily' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasta). Pasta comes in a wide degree of shapes, sizes, colours and flavours varying on personal preference. Over time and with the introduction of technology, the way pasta is constructed and developed has varied. The traditional hand made methods can now be similarly developed in machinery and placed in supermarkets and factories.
Pasta is described as a complex carbohydrate, resulting in differing health affects within the body. Pasta does hold some nutrition and therefore can balance vitamin levels. Carbohydrates assist in the production of energy, yet too much of it can increase weight and consequently can negatively alter the health of many individuals.
Through the popularity of pasta, different countries have altered the creation process, to suit their particular foods. An example of this is within Hong Kong, where pasta has been adapted into their cuisine.
